Hard-Cider and Butter Boiled Mussels
Mussels boiled in a bit of hard cider with some parsley and butter. They go quite well with some fresh baguette.
There are many members of the mollusk group. Humans only eat a few members of this phylum of life: clams, mussels, scallops, octopuses, oysters, and squids. In preparing these creatures for consumption, steaming and boiling are popular. But they are also commonly grilled or even fried. Sometimes, as in the case of oysters, they even come with their own sea-flavored sauce. Nummy! Clams are really good with pasta. And sea scallops are excellent raw or just lightly pan-crusted, as with my recipe below.
